Martine Holston Hughey, MPH, joined I-MAK in 2015 and has executed a wide array of director-level functions, including design for scale. Under her leadership directing operations, I-MAK increased revenue by over 400% while building systems to support its growth.
Martine has nearly two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector – first designing, implementing, and evaluating programs to help increase access to life-saving medicines in 17 countries, and then in building and scaling organizations. Prior to joining I-MAK, Martine was Director of Research and Implementation of Venture Strategies Innovations (VSI), where she led operations research projects to decrease maternal mortality in rural areas of Africa and Asia. It was there that she grew her interest in growing sustainable, people-centered organizations (putting her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology to work), helping the organization triple in staff and number of countries it worked in.
In the last few years, Martine has become a passionate student of traditional health systems (she is certified as an Ayurvedic Health Consultant), and how to apply the wisdom of nature’s cyclical, regenerative patterns to build sustainable organizations, focused on the health and well-being of its people.
Loving to innovate beyond the status quo, Martine is continuing to build I-MAK into a new class of non-profit organizations.
